KBShimmer 'Teal Another Tail' & 'Would Jubilee It ?' swatches & review

Hi guys,

I told you to look forward to some more KBShimmer goodness in my last post and here I am with 2 beautiful polishes.

First up, 'Teal Another Tail' is a satin matte teal with pink/blue duochrome shimmer. I am not too high on duochromes but I kinda like this one, mainly because it's not a dark shade.

#ILL Weekly Nail Challenge Theme: Art over Glitter 'KBShimmer You Autumn Know' review & swatches

Phew that is one long title lol.. I am so glad to do the weekly challenges again :D No daily pressure and it leaves me with more time to swatch the new stash which, by the way, is growing by leaps and bounds :/

For last week's challenge, we were required to have a glittered base. I got smart and took out a glitter crelly :p Presenting to you, a very beautiful and very autumn-y 'You Autumn Know' by KBShimmer :D

#ILL Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 7: 'Holly'

Heya,

It's day 7 and I only have two words to say about this experience- 'Never Again' !! I was being unrealistic when I thought I could do this, now I want to scream " I have a life damnit !! " I have gotten through the challenge but not really how I would like to, mani were lousy (see day 6 :p) some didn't shape up like how they did in my mind but whatever, let's get to the last Christmas of 2013.

I stamped on some holly ...I have always loved this thing, its soo cute...

The white is O.P.I 'My Boyfriend Scales Walls', stamped the holly with BM402 and Konad special polish in green and added the dots with Kleancolor 'Metallic Red'.

I am so glad the last mani of the challenge turned out good enough :p

See yo all tomorrow with the next dose of the #ILL Weekly Challenge :)

ILL Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 6: 'Ornaments'

Hi guys,

Yes, yes I am late but I didn't have my laptop with me so...

For today I tried my hand at making Christmas Tree Ornaments on my nails which looked super easy but I managed to mess them up :D Shows how much I suck at free hand :p

For the gradient I used, O.P.I 'Funny Bunny', Kleancolor 'Metallic Green', China Glaze 'Running In Circles' and LA Girls Glitter Addict 'Purge'. The ornaments were made of Kleancolor 'Metallic Red' and 'Metallic Blue'. For the lil strings, I used Sally Hansen 'Gilded Lily'.

Go on, temme it's crap !! I know it already :p

#ILL 7 Day Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 4: Christmas Floam Gradient.

It's Day 4 of the 7 Day Nail Art Challenge already guys, which means, we are more then half way done :D

And in all honesty, I have done really simple nail arts :p But that's how I roll guys...I don't like complicated things, be it nail art or anything else in life. And to top that, my nails broke just prior to starting the challenge so even that put me off. But I had committed to participate and so I did.

So here is another super simple looking mani I did another christmasy indie polish I had, 'Festive Floam' by Ninja Polish.

#ILL 7 Day Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 3: 'Holly and The Ivy' by Smitten Polish

Hey guys,

I know I am late but I was unwell so couldn't sit up and type a post. But I am here now and will be posting Day 4 today itself.

For Day 3, I used an indie polish called 'Holly and The Ivy' by Smitten Polish. Now this bottle was purchased way back in February this year and it was still untried. So now was the best time to use it.

#ILL 7 Day Christmas Nail Art Challenge Day 2: 'Gifts'

Hello polish lovers,

It's day 2 of the Christmas Nail Art Challenge and my theme for today is gifts !! Christmas is all about giving so a mani cannot be complete with depicting that factor of Christmas.

#ILL 7 Day Christmas nail Art Challenge Day :1

Candy Cane Floam, China Glaze Hey Sailor, LA Girls Animate,  stripes with konad white BM423, Candy Cane with red konad OB19

This is craziness. Someone who struggles to get one post per week up, is doing a 7 day challenge :O But my friends already know that I am crazy and tend to do crazier things once in a while. This is that 'crazy' phase and I am not lying when I say I want it to be over asap :p

So for the first day, it's gonna be 'Candy Cane' :D I don't think I have seen them around here but Kiran sent me few last year for Christmas and boy, they were so cute looking. My daughter had jumped on them the moment I took them out from the gift wrap :D

Here's my version of the traditional candy canes...

#ILL Nail Challenge: Inspired from a tutorial : Epic Fail

Hello polish lovers,

Last week's nail art challenge was to do a mani inspired by someone's tutorial. I over estimated my drawing skills and decided to do a 'Waterfall Mani', originally done by Sammy of The Nailasaurus.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear 'Pink Satin' review, swatches & 'Mushy' NOTD

Hi girls,

Really sorry to say that the blog sale has been postponed to the end of next week because I am waiting for a few polishes to arrive from a friend so that they can be included in the sale too. She's selling off a Sinful Colors flakie :o yeah so it's going to be worth the wait.

Moving on, I have this pretty light pink frost/metallic nail polish from the Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear range.

♥ Zoya Pixiedust in 'DHARA' ♥

If you have paid even a tiny bit of attention to the names of Zoya polishes, you would know that 99% of the shade names are names of girls. Sometimes it would make me wish that there be a Zoya bottle with my name on it, in the future. Who knew this silly wish would be fulfilled :D Honestly, what are the chances that a really typical Indian name could be the name of a shade from Zoya ?? But now that this had happened, I knew I had to get this shade, however tacky it may be or whoever I had to beg to get it for me. Thankfully, it's not tacky or anything on the negative side and I didn't have to beg lol.

Zoya 'Dhara' is a really gorgeous bright orange with golden shimmer shining out, almost like the sun. And oh, it's a pixiedust, meaning it's a textured polish ladies :D

#ILL Nail Challenge: Theme Lines/Stripes

Hi girlies,

It's monday, (rather the end of it) and it's time for the weekly challenge mani. The theme last week was lines or stripes. Some 10 days back, I saw a mani on instagram by WahNails which was called the basket case mani. It was free handed but soo damn easy, that I knew I could pull this off very easily ;) And with the ILL challenge theme, I knew it was the perfect time. So here's my basket case mani...

#ILL nail challenge: Theme 'New Technique'

Now before you think that I was supposed to invent some new technique for nail art then my dears, you are in for a surprise :p Coz I did something that I hadn't done before and not new to the world lol....

I tried a technique called 'Saran Wrap'. Before you get scared about the word 'saran', it's just another word for the plastic foils that we use to cover and wrap foods.

Let's 1st have a look at my mani and I'll explain the technique below...

Indian Lacquer Lovers nail art challenge : Theme Gradient+Pattern

Heylo lovely people,

I am not going to give any excuses for disappearing for more than 2 weeks but I am hoping you missed me :p

The mani I am about to show you took me 2 days to complete. No, it's not complicated or intricate. But that's how life has been last few days :(

The theme for last week's ILL nail challenge was gradient and a pattern..pheww...

And this is what I came up with...

Maybelline Colorshow Nail Art Ideas

The new Maybelline Colorshow nail polishes are already making a rage in the market. With super affordable prices, super quality and a huge array of shades, these make an excellent option for nail arts. And honestly, I haven't seen a single girl walk away from the Maybelline counter with just one bottle !!

Today, I have 3 nail art designs that I did with only 3 Maybelline Colorshow nail polishes, 2 of them been done using only 2 colors i.e. 'Tangerine Treat' & 'Fiesty Fuschia' !! The best part is, these didn't require any nail art tools :D

ILL Nail Challenge : Festive Theme (Karvachauth/Bridal Nails)

Hello lacquer lovers,

I have another mani to add to the nail challenge series. The theme this week is 'Festive'. Now, 'Karvachauth' is the festival closest i.e tomorrow. For non-Indians, this festival is a one day fast that women(mostly north Indian) do for the longevity of their husbands. Thankfully, my in laws don't believe in this logic and hence no fats for me YAYY !! I cannot stay away from food, period. But that didn't stopme from getting a beautiful henna design on both my hands ;)

For the mani, I decided to go with the color Red as it is mostly perceived as the color of brides/weddings/anything related to husbands lol. So I did a silver to red glitter gradient...

ILL Nail Art Challenge: Floral Theme.

Hi all,

How have you guys been ?? I have been sick the last week and with too much going on in my house, I couldn't post my nail art for week 3.. I swear, I did the mani but didn't get enough time to take proper pictures and post them up :(

BTW, the theme for last week was Halloween and I did 'Blood Drip Nails' :/ and hubby called me a witch lol !!

Anyways, this week's theme is floral. I decided to go with the elegant and chic combo of Black and Gold !! Here's what I did...

Pink Nails for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Cancer in any form is well..bad !! Breast cancer is one of the most common form of cancer in women. I have gone through the anxiety, the fear of the worst and the wait to the test results with my best friend while she had developed some knots in her breasts. The feeling is like going through hell.

Today's mani is in honor of every woman who has been diagnosed with the ghastly illness, survivors and the deceased.

Indian Lacquer Lovers Nail Challenge Week 2: Inspired by a 'Pattern'

Hi lacquer lovers,

Another nail treat today :D It's time to show my mani for the Indian Lacquer Lovers nail challenge pattern inspired mani. Now, the funny thing is I didn't even look around for inspiration. All I knew was, patterns involve intricacy and I am, no way in hell, doing it free hand. So stamping is my only option lol. So I rummaged through my 'untried' stamping plates stash, (yes, I not only have an untried nail polishes stash but also a good amount of stamping plates with their protective plastics on...*ashamed*) and picked up the 1st decent looking design and got onto work !!

For the base, I used O.P.I 'Funny Bunny', a soft white jelly and topped it with a layer of Lush Lacquer 'Freckles'.

'Freckles', as you can see, is a mix of small neon glitter hexes. Best looking on solid white. But using it on a soft white did soften the whole look. I will put up more swatches of Freckles in a separate post later.

I, then stamped a swirly design using Konad stamping polish and Cheeky CH52 stamping plate.

I wish the neon showed up a little more, anyways...

Oddly (for me), I am excited about the next theme and can't wait to explore and improve my poor skills..

Lemme know what you think of this design :)

Maybelline New York Colorshow Denim Dash & Bold Gold swatches & NOTD

Hiiii, yes I am squealing :D

The Maybelline Colorshow nail polishes are here :D These were a huge hit the moment the US, and now finally after eons of being in the US, they are finally launched in India.

I found them in the Lifestyle store, the SA said that they only had 20 out of the 40 launched in India :/ Anyways, here are the two I picked...

I didn't have the patience of wearing both of these babies on different days so both of them went on at once lol

M.A.C Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder review

Oily skin has a lot of disadvantages, we all know of a few. For makeup junkies like you and me, what could be worse than having a slick shine on your face even before you have left your house on a tacky Indian summer afternoon ?? Well we do have a solution for that. M.A.C Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder to your rescue ma'am !! This is the pressed version here but it's also available in loose powder form.

Packaging:
All products from the Prep + Prime range come in shiny black cases. So this powder comes in a pan similar to the M.A.C Studio Fix compact but in a shiny black case and without a sponge.  It also has a small mirror inside so you can use it on the go !!

What is it ?
A silky, colorless finishing powder suitable for all skin tones. Reduces shine while optically minimizing the look of lines & imperfections. Wear over makeup or on its own. ( Taken from M.A.C website)

What does it do ?
It is a setting powder. It blurs minor imperfections and also works as a blotting agent.

How to use ?
This powder can be used to set the whole makeup or under the eye to set the concealer or to blot the shine on the face or to even mattify creamy lipsticks. This also prolongs the longevity of the makeup. My concealer on the under eye area doesn't crease anymore. Even though I still sweat and shine after a couple of hours but my makeup doesn't move for a long long time. Since it is transparent, it will work for anyone and everyone.

Highly recommended for oily skin beauties !! If you are buying the loose powder, there is a chance of wastage with every use due to the 'tapping' of the brush. A little goes a long way with the pressed version. And thank god, summer and sweat season is almost over !! Yayy

Price: Rs 1450/ 6.3 gms
Rating: 5/5 happi :)

Next time you are at the M.A.C store, do give this baby a try :)

Maybelline New York Blush Studio Cheeky Glow blush 'Fresh Coral' swatch & review

Maybelline is now known to bring some really cute looking and easily loveable products in the market. I still can't get over the cuteness of Baby Lips and have this urge to buy them in multiple flavors even though I haven't finished my current stick.

The newest offering from Maybelline is their Cheeky Glow blush...Oh, so cute <3

Packaging:
The new Cheeky Glow blush cames in a sturdy white pan with transparent domed lid. It taked a bit of an effort to open the lid but it also makes it travel friendly. I absolutely loved the tiny white thing. Talk about cuteness ;)

Color:
The shade of the blush I have is called Fresh Coral. From the name, you automatically take it to be a straight coral but this one is more of a peachy pink. I love :D

Texture:
The Cheeky Glow blush is matte in texture and has no shimmer/glitter/sparkle. Makes for an amazing day time blush. It isn't chalky to touch.

Application:
This blush is very soft to apply and blends very easily.

Pigmentation:
The pigmentation is good for a drugstore brand.

Longevity:
I have oily skin and this blush lasted on me for a good 4.5 hours. To say that I was surprised is an understatement. It was totally unexpected. I also tested it without a hoard of base products but it still gave me a good 3.5 hours.

Maybelline Cheeky Glow is also said to be dermatologist tested & non-comedogenic. These words are like music to the ears of a girl suffering from acne !!

Taking into consideration the price of this product, it is an excellent choice for people on budget like students and makeup newbies. Even though I have quite some blushes from MAC, Benefit and Nars, this one is still a good addition to my stash :)

Price: Rs. 250/7 gms.

Rating: 4/5 happi :)

Well done Maybelline !! This makes me look forward to more of their new launches.

Check out Maybelline India's page here.

*PR sample and all that jazz ;)
