Maybelline New York Superstay 14HR lipstick in 'Please Stay Plum' swatch & review

So the new Maybelline New York 14HR Superstay lipsticks are already creating a wave in the Indian market. I have been reading a couple of reviews about them on other blogs and already had a definite picture in my mind prior to using the lipstick myself. But boy, was I surprised when I had it on my lips ?

These newly launched lipsticks have transparent bottoms with colored plastic matching the shade of lipstick bullet accurately. This makes it so much easy to locate the one you want in your stash.

The shade that I am reviewing is called 'Please Stay Plum'. This one is a deep, vampy berry-plum with golden pearl. You need 2 swipes of the lipstick to get intense color.

These lipsticks are mainly about lasting power and this one here certainly has that. It gave me a lipstick-y finish for about 4 hours and then the shine started to fade. The keyword here being 'shine'. Technically what was left behind was a stain but it was so deep and so strong that it passed off a lipstick for another 5 hours !! Unbelievable !!! Later then that, the stain began to fade too and at the end of 12 hours, I had to remove the remains of Please Stay Plum with a make up remover.

Maybelline Superstay 14HR lipsticks do not dry out the lips but don't moisturize either. They are very light feeling, not at all like the normal mattes. I did not experience problems like tugging on lips, bleeding or feathering. But the lipstick does transfer a bit onto other surfaces like cups and cheek ;)

Overall I am very impressed with this particular shade and I would really recommend this shade for Indian traditional dresses. It will not only last throughout the function but also brighten up the face.

My only problem with the whole range in general is there is no nude shade. Why does Maybelline think India doesn't need a nude lipstick or even an eye shadow for that mater is beyond me :/
