Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss 'Glisten Up Pink' swatch & review

The current makeup trends are all about color and Maybelline New York is making sure we are up to date. Their newest offering, the Color Sensational High Shine lip gloss is being marketed as intense colored, shiny lip glosses. I have one called 'Glisten Up Pink' and so far the shade looks good. Let's see if it stands up to the brand's claims.

Acc. to Maybelline...

Why You’ll Love It:

  • More Vibrant Color from pure liquid pigments
  • Cleaner Shine from our 100% wax-free gloss
  • Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar
  • Now gloss goes gutsy in 8 arresting shades
  • Expert Tip

There is nothing extraordinary about the packaging of this lip gloss. It comes in a slim, transparent, rectangular tube with a silver cap and a doe-foot applicator. I also dislike the fact that there is absolutely nothing printed on the tube itself, just a small sticker at the base bearing the name of the shade.

Color & Pigmentation:
Glisten Up Pink is a baby pink gloss with lots of silver shimmer particles. High shine claims=shimmer in any product !! Yes, the shimmer particles were around my lip area after I had eaten some food. This particular shade is not too sheer and takes only 2 swipes to get an even and opaque look. Yes, I say even because if you are not careful while applying the gloss evenly, some part of the lip may peek up from under the semi sheer layer of the gloss. I making any sense ?? :s

Texture & Application:
The gloss is non sticky to a good extent. I likes :D The shimmer is non gritty and not felt on application. The gloss is creamy enough to glide on smoothly.

Its a gloss and its not going to last for a long time-accepted. Its a gloss and its going to transfer to other surfaces-accepted. So almost 2.5 hours of wear on this with slight snacking is a good sign. Full on meal and the gloss will have disappeared quite a bit leaving behind shimmer that will still shine on your lips ( and the surrounding area :p) and a slight stain, until you have wiped it off with soap/makeup remover.

Price: Rs. 350/5 ml

Rating:  3.8/5 happi :)

Overall, there is nothing that will compel you to buy this shade but I am sure there are more interesting shades in the range. If you are someone who despises the stickiness of majority of the lip glosses available, this will be a respite. With affordable price and 8 shades to choose from, I am sure every one can get  their own piece of  the bold color trend :)

*PR Sample, honest opinion and all that jazz ;)
