Lakme Absolute Pop Tints Nail Tints swatches & review

Recently Lakme launched a fun and colorful collection during the Lakme Fashion Week called 'Lakme Absolute Pop Tints' consisting of new nail polish shades and jumbo lip pencils. These are all limited edition shades.

I got the following Nail Tints:
Top row: Blue Breeze, Fuchsia Sorbet. Bottom row: Kiwi Martini, Aqua Marine.

Although these are not from the Fast & Fabulous range, the bottles are the same. The qualities differ. These do not dry super quick as F&F but the dragging part and streakiness is like the very 1st batch of F&F polishes. You need to let the 1st coat dry completely before you go on for the 2nd coat. And application with a light hand is a must :/ Also all of these polishes are cremes. No sparkly fun :(

Let's get on to the swatches now...

Barry M Textured nail polish swatches & review

Textured polishes is one of the hottest trends right now. They are basically polishes that dry matte and gritty. They can be plain cremes like the ones shown here or have glitter and sparkle.I have already featured 1 such polish from O.P.I called Stay The Night on the blog. I had a chance to try the textured polishes from Barry M so I bought 3 of the 4 polishes.

Ridley Road, Atlantic Road, Kingsland Road

See how cute the names are ?

Ridley Road is mint green textured polish. 2 coats give full  opaque finish.

I got bored with the plain look of this mani s added a coat of LA Girls Glitter Addict in Uninhibited on the pointer and ring finger. Adding a glitter top coat didn't reduce the grittiness of the original polish.

Atlantic Road is a baby blue textured polish. This is my favourite kinda blue :D 2 coats again..

After experimenting with the mint one, I wanted to try something on this too. So I added a coat of O.P.I Gone Gonzo on the middle and ring fingers.

The last of the Barry M textures is Kingsland Road, a pale baby pink textured polish. 2 coats too...Before I could get bored with the plain look, I had to change my mani so didn't get a chance to spice this one up :p

Overall, I do like the texture trend but honestly I like the sparkly ones better then these. Before I had tried these on, I had a good mind to buy some bright colored textured polishes from China Glaze. But not anymore. I did rather put that money on O.P.I Liquid Sands or the Zoya Pixie Dusts. These are just too plain for my taste. I also feel that I would have liked them better if the sandiness/grittiness was a bit more prominent. Also the unavailability in India is a big bummer.

With that said, I am hoping that we will see some glittery, sparkly textured polishes from Barry M too because honestly they are super cheap and come in a size that I believe can be emptied haha.

Price: 3.99£/ 10 ml

Rating: 3.7/5 happi :)

What do you think of these polishes or the texture trend in general ?? Lemme know below :)

Bollywood inspired Retro Look with the L'Oreal L'Or Sunset Collection

Bollywood, as an industry, completed 100 years of its existence. And this occasion is being celebrated at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. L’Oreal Paris and Cannes Film Festival are long time associates and to make the 100 years mark of Bollywood even more special, a few bloggers have been sent a L’Oreal Paris Goodie bag with lots of awesome stuff from the newly launched L’Or Sunset Collection. The Collection for Cannes 2013 is already creating a hullabaloo around the blogosphere. I received a few of their products too. And I am in love with each and every product.

We were asked to create a couple of looks inspired by Bollywood with the help of the products sent to us. The obvious choice for me was a nice ‘retro’winged liner look with lots of shine on the face, dark lips and a sleek updo. The products I used for my look are…

I also had to use a ton of things for my base but nothing other than the items in the pic are from L’Oreal so didn’t picture them !!

And my look…

The quad I received is called Eau De Rose, shimmery pinks, peach and a burgundy. The eye shadows are a little sheer but very shimmery so they still do shine on the eyes. I applied them with a wet brush here. The Super Liner gives a good glossy finish and is quite easy to apply !! That's a lot coming from me haha as I need the easiest of technologies for applying eye liners :p

I finally have the much coveted Volume Million Lashes Mascara too. Quite liking it ;)

The blue eye pencil in shade 108 Portofino Blue. This one is veryyy soft. I can’t wait to try this on my waterline. It should be safe since there’s no shimmer/glitter in it.

The lipstick is Forever Brown from the Color Riche Range. Insane on golden shimmer but doesn’t look tacky for a moment. I can see myself using this in a blotted version. MIL is in love with it haha ;)

My mother in law was super excited because I was doing something she is a pro at ( the winged eye liner) and happily agreed to do my hair. Of course, we couldn't achieve a very professional look with our limited supply of natural hair (lol), hair pins and all the other necessities. But I still liked what she managed to do...poor thing kept mt father in law waiting for dinner while she was busy doing my 'hairstyle' :D

She also picked these earrings for me to wear. These were originally hers. She gave them to me some 8 years back and I had carelessly tossed them somewhere, after which they had been my daughter’s playthings. Never had dreamt that they’d come in useful to me J

While my liner went all wonky, I am still happi at the outcome. How about you ?? How you managed to snag anything from the new collection ?? Psssp…I have ordered some more things from the collection online too…sshhh ;)

The Five Products Only Makeup Challenge

There are so many challenges going on around the blogosphere and although I go woww when I read about them on somebody's blog, I refrain from committing myself to them mainly because of time restraint and laziness lol. But I read about the 5 products make up challenge on Ray's Primed With Prettiness and I don't know what came over me but I got ready to take the challenge even though she hadn't tagged me LOL. Who said you need to be tagged to do such things ;)

So basically you only have to use 5 make up products to do a face look. Here's what I used:

Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles collection nail polish swatches & review

Hi girls,

By now, you all must be aware of how beautiful and diverse polishes are available in the world polish market. It is a shame that we Indians can't have them easily. I can't get myself to settle down for the limited variety of nail polishes available in the Indian market. And at times like these, eBay comes to my rescue.

After finishing my swatch project, I bought a ton of new polishes :D Quite a few were bought from eBay. Amongst those were these beautiful new polishes from Hard Candy, a drugstore brand from the U.S.

Hard Candy recently came out with a bunch of really cool polishes. The ones I am showing here are a part of the Candy Sprinkles Collection.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain 'Rendevouz' swatch & review.

Orange/tangerine is the lip color for this season. Although I am not a sucker for trends, I thought it would be nice to have at least one orange lip color. The problem with me is that I am not comfortable with bold lips. So if I want an orange lip color, it has to subtle. And the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balmstain in 'Rendevouz' solves the problem for me !!
